Qomply is delighted to have been awarded 'Most Innovative Young Persons’ Education / Recruitment Programme' at the A Team Innovation Awards 2025 for our internship programme.

Qomply offers spring and summer internships to students and graduates and with seven members of the team having started as interns, we asked them about their experiences and for any advice for future interns.

WHAT IS/WAS THE BEST PART OF YOU INTERNSHIP?

Yiqing: "The best part of my internship was having the incredible opportunity to start my journey as a software developer from scratch. I was surrounded by an amazingly supportive team who patiently answered all my questions, no matter how basic. Looking back, I’m deeply grateful that Qomply gave me the time, space, and encouragement to grow as a complete beginner."

Majed: "The best part of my internship was definitely the people I got to work with. Being around professionals at the top of their game taught me more than I ever expected. I picked up so much just by being in the room, whether it was through conversations, seeing how they approach problems, or the way they think about the bigger picture."

Ruoxuan: "Since the beginning of my internship, Michelle had weekly meetings with me where I learnt so much. For example, I contributed to the development of the Qomply website and it was also really rewarding to see that some of my suggestions for improving workflows were implemented as new features in our internal systems."

WHAT DID YOU LEARN AT QOMPLY?

Yiqing: "Over the course of my internship, I became proficient in four programming languages. I also gained a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle by participating in testing across multiple stages of product development. It was a hands-on learning experience that gave me both technical skills and real-world insight."

Majed: "I gained deep exposure to transaction reporting, regulatory requirements, and how financial systems operate behind the scenes. Being at Qomply taught me how to approach problems from different angles, while also helping me sharpen my coding skills through writing cleaner, more scalable solutions. On top of that, seeing how teams like marketing and sales fit into the bigger picture gave me a real end-to-end understanding of how the business operates. It was a steep learning curve, but an incredibly rewarding one."

Ruoxuan: "I significantly improved my coding skills and learned how to connect front-end, back-end, and database components. I also gained experience in writing scalable, maintainable code for new features. In addition, I learned a lot of financial knowledge throughout the internship. I gained a clearer understanding of key industry terms and how trading operates across different regions - it really helped me connect the dots between tech and finance. "

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO PROSPECTIVE INTERNS?

Yiqing: "If you’re a recent graduate or someone new to coding and looking for a place to launch your career as a developer, Qomply is the perfect place to start! Here, questions are encouraged, and we genuinely enjoy helping one another grow. You’ll find a culture of support, learning, and collaboration that truly sets this programme apart."

Majed: "My advice would be to seize the opportunity and to not be afraid to ask questions!"

Ruoxuan: "Don’t be afraid to ask questions - whether it’s about coding, finance, marketing, operations, or even where to find good food nearby! Everyone here is super friendly and always happy to help. Be proactive in sharing your ideas and suggestions; as a newcomer, you might notice things that others have overlooked, and we’re always open to improvements.”
